NPPA Celebrates 60th Anniversary at Summit


June 23, 2006 – Today marks the first day of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) 60th anniversary summit in Tampa Bay, FL.

The three-day event is themed "See the Future and Learn How to Get There" and features presentations by National Geographic contributing photographer Joe McNally, VII Agency photographer Christopher Morris, and Washington Post political photographer Melina Mara.

Sponsored by Canon and Avid, the NPPA summit will include a luncheon for lifetime members and a "shootout" activity in which photojournalists compete to get the "most inspiring images," according to the NPPA website. Awards will also be given in still photography, picture editing, TV photo editing, and web categories.

The NPPA currently has over 10,000 members, according to their website.
