Minox DCC Leica M3 Debuts

September 18, 2006 – Just as Leica came out of hibernation last week with the M8, Minox GmbH announced on Friday the Minox DCC Leica M3 5MP camera, a digital camera modeled after the old Leica favorite.

Launched on the same day as Leica’s announcement of the digital M8, the German-based Minox revisits the 1954 Leica M3, combining “state-of-the-art technology” with the “nostalgic look,” according to Friday’s press release.

Known for their extravagant gold and diamond-studded cameras, Minox has previously released the classic styled Minox DCC Leica M3 in 4 megapixel, 3 megapixel, and 1.3 megapixel versions.

The Minox DCC Leica M3 5 megapixel camera has a 1.5-inch TFT LCD and CMOS sensor. The camera is equipped with movie capabilities at 320 x2 40 at 60 fps. The Minox camera has 32 MB of internal memory and is compatible with Li-ion batteries.

Minox has not released details on the price and availability of the Minox DCC Leica M3 (5MP).
