Microsoft Offers Future Pro Student Photo Contest
May 15, 2007 – The Microsoft Future Pro Photographers contest offers student photographers the opportunity to jump-start their careers. The grand prize winner will receive $20,000 cash and a digital workflow prize worth over $5,000 that includes the Canon EOS 30D DSLR, Adobe CS3, and Epson Stylus Photo 2400 printer. The Future Pro Photographer Contest is open to college and university student photographers around the world. Applicants may submit images in three categories: Nature & Landscape, People & Portraits, and Fine Art. Entrants can submit a maximum of three images, one in each category. Contestants may submit JPEGs or film images converted into digital files to the contest website. The images will be judged on technical execution, originality, and relevance to the category.
Applicants may submit images processed with other operating systems other than Microsoft.
"The contest is designed to recognize and reward the very best college and university student photographers worldwide regardless of the tools used to create the image," states the contest website. "Microsoft is committed to carrying the art of digital photography forward by encouraging new and emerging talent at the student level to learn, utilize, and implement state-of-the-art equipment, software, and techniques to produce the finest images possible."
Residents in select countries, including Cuba and North Korea are ineligible. Applicants must be 18 or older.
Microsoft anticipates thousands of entries. Students can submit their images to the Microsoft Future Pro Photographer Contest at http://prophoto.microsoft.avitivacorp.com/Site.aspx. Submissions must be received by May 31.
