Microsoft Adds New Photo Gallery to Windows Live

June 28, 2007 - Microsoft yesterday announced additions to Windows Live, including a comprehensive photo tool that allows users to edit, share, and manage photos and video. Windows Live Photo Gallery is free and to be used in conjunction with Windows Live Spaces, Microsoft’s online social network.

"The initial managed beta of Windows Live Photo Gallery beta is available today in nine markets around the world so far (including the United States (English and Spanish), China, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Japan, and Spain), with more to come," said Chris Jones, corporate vice president of the Windows Live Experience Program in a company press release. "We’re really proud of this service because it’s so easy to share photos – it’s really as easy as sending an e-mail."

The Windows Live Photo Gallery is an update to the gallery tool included in Windows Vista. Microsoft also announced Windows Live Folders, which allows users to store 500 MB of data online for free. Windows Live, initially released in 2005, is a collection of online services, including e-mail, a chat tool, and Web search.
