Microsoft Acquires iView

June 28, 2006 – iView Multimedia, Ltd. announced yesterday the acquisition of its company by Microsoft Corp. The acquisition was officially completed on Thursday, June 22. UK-based iView Multimedia is the manufacturer of the professional-level digital asset management software, iView MediaPro. With the buyout, Microsoft will acquire all of iView’s assets and products.

iView Multimedia founder Yan Calotychos in yesterday’s iView press release assures customers, "The product that was born on the Mac will remain on the Mac as well as on the Windows operating system." All iView products will continue to be compatible with Mac and PC systems and will remain on their website for sale. Existing iView users will receive "full support," according to the release, and will qualify for upgrades to version 3.x. Existing iView users will also receive promotional pricing for upgrades on future Microsoft products based on iView.

iView Media is currently retailed at $49, and iView MediaPro is $199.

"Details on future product plans and availability will be announced at a future date," says the release.
