Lexar Releases Annual Report

March 16, 2006 – Lexar released its annual report Tuesday, with total revenue from 2005 reaching $852.7 million. This seems to have been a good year for the memory card company, as its revenue increased 25 percent from 2004. Lexar merged with Micron Technology, Inc. last year, but its profits seem to only grow.

In the fourth quarter, Lexar saw revenue of $239.1 million. This is up 26 percent from the previous quarter, partially because of the holiday shopping season. However, this is also up 27 percent from 2004’s fourth quarter revenue. Lexar cashed in on some patents this year, which brought in big revenue. In the fourth quarter, Lexar earned $9.7 million in licensing fees and royalties as compared to $1.2 million in the same time period in 2004.

In 2005, Lexar released several new capacities of memory cards, including a professional grade 8GB CompactFlash card with 90x speed. It also sold Lexar Smart Download modules that are made for photographers who need to download and manage images directly from their media with Adobe Bridge. Lexar also introduced the LockTight security system on many of its cards.
