Kodak to Unveil Z980 with 24x Zoom at CES


January 5, 2009 – At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, Kodak will introduce the Z980, a 12-megapixel camera boasting a 24x zoom lens. Priced at $399.95, the Z980  is scheduled to ship in Spring 2009.

The 24x lens, which incorporates optical image stabilization, starts at 26mm. The Z980 features a 3-inch LCD and hot shoe for an optional Kodak P20 flash. Kodak says the camera will incorporate a vertical shutter release and detachable vertical grip for portrait-mode shooting, though it isn’t shown in the available photo.

Also new from Kodak are three point-and-shoots in its M-series line:

- M380: 10 megapixel, 5x zoom, 2.7-inch LCD, available in black, red and teal, priced at $179, shipping in March

- M340: 10MP, 3x zoom, 2.7-inch LCD, available in blue, blue-green, silver and red, priced at $149, shipping in March

- M320, 9 megapixel, 3x zoom, 2.7-inch LCD, available in black, silver, red and blue, priced at $129, shipping in February
