Kodak To Discontinue SLR/n and SLR/c

June 1, 2005 - Kodak has informed retailers they will discontinue manufacture of their Pro SLR/n and DCS Pro SLR/c digital cameras effective this month.

Kodak has said warranties, software updates, and support will continue for both cameras until 2008. Additionally, Kodak has said they will continue sales of SLR/c and SLR/n until stocks are depleted.

The Rochester-based Kodak apparently had planned to announce the discontinuation of SLR/n and SLR/c later this week. However, word leaked out to the public after a memo to retailers in Canada was circulated.

The 14 megapixel SLR/n accepts Nikon lenses, while the SLR/c accepts Canon lenses. Both retailed for around $4,200.

While Kodak is not expected to completely bow out of the SLR arena, the company has found profitability and success in their compact EasyShare line of cameras. Those camera types are expected to dominate Kodak’s focus for years to come.
