Kodak Releases Two New Z-Series Models

March 7, 2007, Las Vegas, NV - Kodak added to its Z-series today with the release of the 7.1-megapixel Z712 IS and 8.1-megapixel Z885. Both new models offer expanded optical zoom and high ISO sensitivities. The Z712 IS will be available in April, at an MSRP of US $299.95, while the Z885 will hit retail shelves in May, at an MSRP of US $199.95.

'The powerful combination of high ISO and high zoom with image stabilization gives consumers the ability to take incredible pictures in any lighting conditions,' said Greg Morrison, digital product marketing manager, Kodak Canada Inc. in today’s press release.

The SLR-shaped Z712 IS features an optically stabilized 12x Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon zoom lens, with a focal range equivalent to 36-432mm in 35mm format. The camera is purportedly capable of a "best-in-class" .26 second shutter lag, according to today’s Kodak press release.

The EasyShare Z885 contains a shorter 5x optical zoom lens, equivalent to a 36-188mm lens on a 35mm camera. Kodak is marketing the camera’s quick autofocus, 10 scene modes, and high sensitivity up to ISO 8000.

The two cameras will augment Kodak’s high zoom line later this spring.
