"The style/value segment has become an increasingly important category in the digital imaging market," said Kodak Limited Chairman and Managing Director Julian Baust in a UK company press release today. "Our M-Series line brings consumers the opportunity to expand their picture-taking experience by converging stylish, compact designs and quality digital imaging technology, with affordable pricing."
All the M-series models include a 3x optical zoom lens, digital image stabilization, high ISO settings, and HD still capture that allows users to view their photos in the 16:9 aspect ratio on HDTVs.
The M883 is the series' most advanced design. The 8-megapixel M883 has an all-metal exterior body and a 3-inch LCD screen. It is also the only M-series model that features face detection. The camera has a high sensitivity setting of 1600 ISO. The EasyShare M883 will be available in Slate, Midnight Black, and Red Hot color options when the camera becomes available in September. Pricing was not immediately available.
The Kodak M873 also touts an 8-megapixel count and 1600 High ISO setting but is fitted with a smaller 2.5-inch LCD screen. The M873 will be offered in Midnight Black and Slate for a retail price of $199.95 when it becomes available in August.
The 8.2-megapixel M853 and the 7-megapixel M753 sport 2.5-inch LCD monitors and high sensitivity settings of 1250 ISO. The M853 will be available in Arctic Silver, Red Rose, Snow, Graphite, and Espresso for the retail price of $179.95 when it becomes available in August. The M753 will be offered in Denim, Plum, Pink Bliss, Sterling, Copper, and Black Onyx for $149.95. The camera is currently available for pre-order from the Kodak website.
