Conclusion

Kodak EasyShare Z915

The Kodak EasyShare Z915 has taken a slightly different approach to the compact ultrazoom market. Where other manufacturers are packing high-end specs into their models, Kodak has decided to practice moderation to offer a more attractive price point of $200. This is $150 or more less expensive than competitors.

That's not to say that the Z915 isn't impressive in its own right, as it packs a 10x zoom into a form factor that's still much smaller than most ultrazoom cameras. Yes the LCD is a bit smaller and the focal range doesn't start as wide as others, but you still have a full range of manual controls available and a 35-350mm focal range is nothing to sneeze at.

We're glad to see Kodak offer a competitor in this space that will broaden the market of available consumers. There's a lot to like about compact ultrazooms and Kodak's Z915 will be attractive to consumers who simply won't be able to afford its more expensive brethren. The Z915 will be available in April of 2009.
