February 19, 2005 – In addition to its Z-series announcements, Kodak also introduced the C340 and C300 today. Both cameras follow the C-series code of affordable simplicity. The compact digital cameras are meant to act as point-and-shoots for beginning consumers. The Kodak EasyShare C340 has 5.1 megapixels and a 3x optical zoom lens; the Kodak EasyShare C300 has 3.2 megapixels and a fixed focal lens.

The EasyShare C340 incorporates a Kodak Color Science Chip with its 5.1-megapixel CCD to create clear pictures. The camera also includes a 3x optical Kodak Retinar zoom lens that has an additional 5x digital zoom. The all-purpose camera has 13 scene and 3 color modes. It also has a Programmed AE mode, where users can manually select the ISO speed, exposure metering, and focus zones. The C340 also has a burst mode that shoots 3 frames per second for up to 3 shots.

When in playback mode, images can be displayed on the 1.6-inch LCD screen in several ways: Fast Scroll, Zoom, Slide Show, and Multi-up. Users can also choose to protect the photo or store it in the Favorites album. Pictures are automatically rotated and can be cropped within the camera. Movie clips can also be played back within the C340. The 20-frame-per-second movie mode records audio as well. Pictures and movies can be saved to either the 16 MB of internal memory or the optional SD/ MMC card. The 5.1-ounce EasyShare C340 will be available in May 2005 for $249.95.

The Kodak EasyShare C300 is one of the most inexpensive models in the C series. With a fixed focal lens equivalent to 37mm and fully automatic settings, the 3.2-megapixel digital camera retails for $99.99. The lens has a 5x continuous digital zoom and an aperture of f/4.5. There are three shooting modes: Auto, Night, and Video. The options are limited with all automated controls, but the price is right. With 16 MB of internal memory and a 1.5-inch LCD screen on the 5.2-ounce EasyShare C300, this digital camera will provide an entry-level choice to beginners easing into photography.

Both cameras are compatible with PictBridge and ImageLink direct printing systems. They are also compatible with the Kodak EasyShare printer dock series 3, and can easily access it with their Kodak Share buttons.
