Kodak Announces EasyShare Z710 with 10x Optical Zoom


Cologne, Germany, September 26, 2006 – Kodak announced their new SLR-shaped point-and-shoot, the EasyShare Z710. The 7.1-megapixel compact camera packs a 10x optical zoom lens and offers a live histogram, along with Program, Aperture and Shutter Priority, and Manual shooting modes. The Z710 will retail for $299 when it becomes available later this month.

As a bridge camera for beginners and photo enthusiasts, according to yesterday’s Kodak press release, the new ultra-zoom Kodak EasyShare Z710 has a 7.1 megapixel count, a 10x optical Schneider Kreuznach Variogon lens, and a 2-inch, 201,000 pixel LCD monitor. The Z710 features a new Kodak Color Science chip with higher speed digital processing, according to the release.



As always, the Kodak Z710 camera comes with its signature Share button. In addition, the camera has a PASM setting on the mode dial for quick automatic settings between its range of automatic and manual shooting modes. Manual controls include the standard point-and-shoot exposure compensation, ISO settings, white balance and flash controls. The Z710 also has manual control for aperture and shutter speed, according to the release.

The Z710 Zoom has a burst mode of 3 frames at 2fps and a movie mode at 640 x 480 resolution at 10.5 fps.

The Kodak Z710 has 32 MB of internal memory and is compatible with both SD and MMC memory cards. The camera ships with the latest version of Kodak’s EasyShare software, version 6.0.
