Households Purchasing Replacement Cameras on the Rise


July 3, 2007 – The 2007 PMA U.S. Digital Imaging Survey showed that the number of households buying digital cameras to replace older models has doubled in three years. In 2006, 18.2 percent of users replaced their cameras compared to 9.1 percent in 2003.  

The survey also showed that 34.7 percent of households purchased a new digital camera to add to their camera collection, down 16.8 points since 2003. 

19.7 percent of households purchased cameras for the first time and 27.4 percent of households replaced a film camera.
