HP and Gwen Stefani Release Harajuku Lovers Photosmart R607

May 16, 2005- What do you get when you combine eclectic Japanese street style with California pop music marketing savvy? You get the limited edition HP Photosmart R607 Harajuku Lovers digital camera custom designed by singer Gwen Stefani. The 4.1 megapixel camera will be available this month and is limited to a production run of 3,000 cameras that will come with a custom Stefani designed carrying case, charms and related music merchandising at a retail price of $249.

'A camera is clearly a modern day accessory so I thought, 'Why not design a unique, stylish version of it?' So we added it to the line, and it's super-kawaii ('super-cute' in Japanese)," said Stefani.

Designed for Stefani fans who've embraced her fusion of West Coast dance/hip hop with the unique fashion tastes of the modern Japanese girl, the limited edition HP Photosmart R607 is styled in turquoise and white with maroon-colored accents, including hearts and Japanese kanji and katakana characters.

'I started Harajuku Lovers because I wanted to design something more creative than a standard merchandise line. So we decided to launch a fashion and accessories line based on the same Japanese influence as my album 'Love. Angel. Music. Baby.',' said Stefani.

The Stefani limited-edition Harajuku Lovers R607 is internally identical to the standard HP Photosmart R607 in every way, except the body designs and colors.The R607 Harajuku Lovers digital camera is a compact, 4.1 megapixel camera that features HP's "Real Life Technologies" such as adaptive lighting technology, panorama preview mode for capturing panoramic shots, in-camera red-eye removal to instantly eliminate red-eye without a PC or software, HP Image Advice and HP Instant Share.

But wait, there’s more. In addition to the HP Photosmart R607, buyers will get a stylish carrying case and charms also designed by Stefani, as well as a wrist and shoulder strap. Also packaged with the limited edition camera is a DVD, featuring a Stefani interview, remix track, screen saver and images.

On Tuesday, Stefani will be presenting Ellen DeGeneres and a few lucky Ellen DeGeneres Show audience members with the first cameras off the production line. Fans can also get a peek at the HP Photosmart R607 Harajuku Lovers Digital Camera in action as it is prominently featured in Stefani’s new music video, 'Hollaback Girl.'
