Digital Camera Review

The HP Photosmart R725 rounds out the lower-priced end of the new R-series released by HP at CES 2006. This camera has a 6.1 effective MP CCD, a somewhat undersized 2.0-inch 153,600 pixel LCD, and several new features unveiled on other cameras by HP this week. This camera contains an in-camera editing suite called Design Gallery, a feature which allows users to manipulate image effects, colors, and borders while the images are still in-camera. Improving over previous models, the R725 also features automatic Red-eye reduction, a feature which prior to this year was only a postproduction option for HP photographers. At this time the MSRP for the R725 is unknown, so check back for the full review we’ll post once this camera is released.

The camera is small enough to slide into a pocket and the aluminum body keeps its weight down. It seems HP aims to compete with Kodak to snag a share of the point-and-shoot market. At this time the MSRP for the R725 is unknown, so check back for the full review we’ll post once this camera is released.
