HP Announces Point-and-Shoot Photosmart E327 at CES

January 4, 2006, Las Vegas, NV - Today in Las Vegas HP announced the Photosmart E327, a simple point-and-shoot with 5 megapixels, no optical zoom, and a small 1.8” LCD screen. The E327 sports a manually sliding lens cover that turns the camera on and off and measures 3.5 x 1.1 x 1.8 inches.

The E327 does have a movie mode, though HP does not provide specifics in its press release. The E327 also comes with 16 MB of internal memory, SD card compatibility, and HP Photosmart Software. It is also PictBridge compatible.

The HP press release states that the E327 is 1.08 grams, but we suspect this is a typo and the camera’s actual weight is 108 grams, or 3.8 ounces. Even so, that is impressively light, even for a simple point-and-shoot.

The MSRP of the HP Photosmart has yet to be announced. The camera will be available in the US in March 2006.
