Las Vegas, Nevada, March 8, 2007 – HP announced today two new point-and-shoot models, the HP Photosmart M537 and the M437 with in-camera photo tagging for sorting and simplified uploading. The cameras carry over standard HP features from previous models including Photosmart Express but tote bigger LCD screens. The HP Photosmart M537 will retail for $129.99 and the M437 will be priced at $109.99 when the cameras become available in April in North America, Latin America, and select European countries.

The new HP Photosmart M537 and M437 are modified upgrades to previous HP models from CES 2006. The new 6-megapixel M537 borrows its resolution and 3x optical zoom from the older M527. The new camera, however, comes with a larger 2.5-inch LCD screen, up from the 2-inch screen on the previous model.

The HP M437 possesses a 5-megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom lens, like the M425 last year. The new camera also upgrades to a bigger 2-inch LCD monitor over the 1.7-inch display on last year’s camera.

One of the highlights offered on the HP M537 and M437 is a built-in tagging system that allows users to select images which will be marked for sharing during the upload process. Coupled with the Photosmart software, the HP photo tagging system promises to make organization even easier, according to a company press release today. Users can preselect images for printing or emailing with the in-camera HP Photosmart Express system, a feature on many previous Photosmarts. Through the software’s direct links to HP-owned Snapfish.com, users can also purchase prints and photo merchandise.

Other features designed to bypass computer editing include HP’s Real Life technology that includes built-in red-eye removal, a borrowed feature from all their M-series cameras and the higher megapixel R-series models. The M537 and M437 also include HP’s Design Gallery, which allows users to edit photos in the camera such as modifying image colors or adding borders.

The two new point-and-shoots feature HP’s steady photo anti-shake to compensate for hand shake and moving subjects. The HP M537 and M437 are now also compatible with Windows Vista. The cameras come with 16MB of internal memory and accept AA batteries. Customers can also purchase an additional HP Photosmart 2200 Digital Camera Dock for charging and uploading.

Key Features:
Photosmart Express
HP Real Life (Red-eye removal, Design Gallery)
HP anti-shake technology
