HP Adds Apple iPod Photo to Line
April 14, 2005 – HP announced two digital photo and music storage devices to its Apple iPod from HP line Tuesday. The 30 and 60 GB models play slide shows on a 2-inch LCD screen for up to 5 hours and can play uploaded music for 15 hours. The 60 GB model can hold up to 25,000 photographs and retails for $449. The 30 GB model will sell for $349.
The Apple iPod from HP cannot take photographs, but acts as a storage library instead. Consumers can upload pictures from computers with a USB cable. They can also use their computers to create and print "tattoos" to decorate the iPod.
"HP offers consumers simple, fun ways to enjoy and personalize their music and photo experiences," said Siobhan O’Connor, HP’s vice president of Consumer Brand and Marketing.
The gadgets are part of an alliance between HP and Apple that markets Apple’s products under the HP brand name. HP’s computers come with Apple’s iTunes software preinstalled and with a desktop icon positioned to link consumers directly to the iTunes Music Store as part of the deal.
