Getty Images Launches Beta Site

November 30, 2006 – On Tuesday, Stock photo distributor Getty Images launched a beta version of its website beta.gettyimages.com, a combined editorial and creative photo database.  Aimed at expediting workflow, the new website allows users to customize the interface for quicker access.

The Getty Images beta is the "first phase of [the] reinvented site," according to a Nov. 28 Getty press release.

The new website allows users to view the entire Getty collection, both editorial and creative images.  For editors on time-sensitive deadlines, the site facilitates more immediate access to its nine million plus image database with fewer clicks when browsing. In addition, the new site promises fewer "no-result" searches.

Users can also modify the content by customizing what thumbnails show on the home page. Users can switch back and forth between image options for News, Sports, Entertainment, Archival, Portraits, and Royalty.  The beta site also currently allows users to submit feedback.

The beta site will eventually replace Getty’s current site.  The full website relaunch will take place in mid-2007.
