General Imaging Announces Camera Availability in Latin America
July 19, 2007 – General Imaging, the licensee for General Electric-branded digital cameras, yesterday announced the distribution of the company’s camera line in Latin America. Jaacx Distributors will make the cameras available throughout the region. North American retailers began stocking the GE digital cameras - the company's first - in May. The cameras will soon ship to Latin America.
"We’re delighted to have Jaacx as the authorized master distributor for GE digital cameras in Latin America," said Hiroshi Komiya, chairman and CEO of General Imaging, in a press release. "Latin America is an enormous market, and with its powerful reach, Jaacx will play an important role as we expand into this market."
"The contract with Jaacx came about very quickly," said Rene Buhay, General Imaging vice president of sales for North America, in a press release. "As a result, Latin American consumers will be able to see the excellent quality and superior features of the GE cameras this summer."
GE announced its digital camera line in March. The camera line consists of eight cameras that range from 7 to 12 megapixels and include features such as in-camera red-eye removal, face detection, and panorama stitch.
