Fujifilm and Sprint Sponsor Halloween Photo Contest
October 9, 2006 – Last week, camera manufacturer Fujifilm and mobile device manufacturer Sprint announced its sponsorship of the Picture Perfect Halloween Photo Contest, with prizes including a Fujifilm FinePix F30. "Halloween is a festive holiday that presents many opportunities to snap colorful and fun photos that will be cherished forever," said Fujifilm director of consumer print marketing Joellyn Gray in Fuji’s press release.
The Halloween photo contest allows users to submit and vote on Halloween-themed photos from 13 different categories, including "Best Pumpkins," "Cutest Baby Costumes," and "Best Spooktacular Photos." The photos can be submitted online or through mobile devices. Entrants can submit up to 30 photos, which will be judged on creativity, originality, composition, and relevancy to the category, according to the website.
The grand prize winner will get a free trip to HersheyPark’s Trick or Treat Adventure 2007. First prize will be the 6.3 megapixel FinePix F30 with 3200 ISO. Second prize will be a Sprint Power Vision SM FUSIC LG camera phone with a 1.3 megapixel camera with 30-second video capabilities, and third prize will be 100 YourStamps, postage stamps with a customized image.
In addition to the contest, the Halloween Photo Contest website features recipes, decorating ideas, and photo tips from the New York Institute of Photography.
The Fujifilm and Sprint match-up is not the first time a camera manufacturer partnered with a mobile device maker. Last month, camera manufacturer and Snapfish owner HP partnered with Nokia. Instead of the launch of a seasonal contest, HP and Nokia streamlined the print ordering process of photos from a camera phone. Users of Nokia’s N80 Internet Edition camera phones will be able to directly order prints through Snapfish from their mobile phone.
