Fujifilm UK Adds to its F Series
July 19, 2007 - Fujifilm UK has announced two additions to its F series; the F45fd and the F47fd. The new models replace the F40fd, the line’s flagship, announced in January. The F47fd features a 9.3MP Super CCD and IrSimple technology. The F45fd is identical to the F40fd, but is also offered in blue.
The F47fd offers increased resolution from previous FinePix models; the F40fd has 8.3MP and the new model has 9.0. Both models feature IrSimple technology for wireless transfer of photos from the camera to another IrSimple-enabled camera, computer, or printer. IrSimple is more widely available in Europe and Japan than in the U.S.
The F45fd retains all of the F40fd's specs, but is also offered in blue.

The new models inherit a 3x optical zoom lens, 300-shot battery life, icon interface, scene mode dial, 2.5-inch LCD, and dual media slot, which accepts xD and SD cards, from the existing F40fd. The octagonal-shaped Super CCD promises improved low light performance. Previous iterations of Fujifilm’s Super CCD have outperformed more traditional sensor designs in terms of noise and dynamic range.
The F45fd and F47fd have face detection, Real Photo Technology, Intelligent Flash, and a Real Photo Processor. Real Photo Technology combines the company’s Super CCD, image processor, and Fujinon lens. Both cameras have a high ISO 2000 setting that captures images at full resolution. The Intelligent Flash feature (i-flash) automatically gauges how much flash power is needed to properly expose a detected face, while retaining some detail in the background, and adjusts accordingly.
The F45fd is exclusively available in the UK at Argos. The F47fd is exclusively available in the UK at Dixons. Fujifilm UK also announced the A825, an addition to its budget A-series line.
