Fujifilm unveiled an inception of face recognition technology at the last Photokina show in 2004. Two years later, Fujifilm finally released a full-working production model digital camera with that concept. The Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd, also called the S6500fd in Europe, was announced in July and made available in September. The 6.3-megapixel digital camera has a Fujinon 10.7x optical zoom lens complete with zoom and focus rings, which make it look like it is a lens that could be interchanged. Alas, the lens cannot be removed but conversion lenses can be attached. The S6000fd also has an i-Flash system that senses and compares the light falling on the background as well as on the subject and adjusts the output accordingly. This ultra-zoom digital camera is the company’s first with the face detection technology, which recognizes and tracks human faces as well as adjusts the focus and exposure for them. The Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd retails for $499 and comes with a host of innovative features.
