Product Tour
Introduction
Fujifilm's S1500 is a lower-end Ultrazoom camera. A step up from a standard point-and-shoot, it has a good deal of manual controls and a 12x zoom. Most Ultrazooms exceed 12x, however. Although its classification is somewhat nebulous at the moment, the S1500's $250 price tag seems about right.
The camera is easy to use, has a good layout to its controls, and comes with a few nice post-production features like cropping. The automatic modes are great for recent point-and-shoot graduates and the manual shutter and aperture modes help bridge the gap to DSLR.
The Fujifilm FinePix S1500fd is slated for release this March.
