Fuji Introduces FinePix F20
July 12, 2006 – Today, Fuji Photo Film, Inc. announced the launch of the high ISO, compact camera FinePix F20.
The FinePix F20 is the "little sister camera" to the F30, said Fuji representative Andrew LaGuardia in an interview with DigitalCameraInfo.com. With a similar design structure and features, the F20 possesses the same 6.3 megapixel count, 2.5-inch LCD screen size, and 3x optical zoom. Like the F30, The F20 also possesses Fuji’s i-flash system for creating a natural-looking, even flash. The F20 has Picture Stabilization capabilities and 15 scene modes.
The F20 is also equipped with a 6th generation Super CCD sensor and Real Photo Technology for noise reduction. "Fujifilm’s Real Photo Technology cameras are among the only digital compact cameras to deliver high ISO at full resolution," stated today’s press release.
According to LaGuardia, the major difference between the two cameras is that the new baby sister, the F20, has an ISO sensitivity of 2000, while the F30 delivers an ISO of 3200. Priced at a hundred dollars less than the F30, the FinePix F20 still provides a notable ISO range. The Fujifilm FinePix F10 had a top ISO sensitivity of 1600, which is the same maximum manual ISO setting on the new F20. The difference is that the F20 uses an even higher ISO 2000 rating for its Anti-Blur and Natural Light modes.
The FinePix F20’s "battery power is going to be a little bit less [than the F30]," said LaGuardia. An F20 battery charge will give up to 300 shots, as opposed to the F30’s charge of 580 pictures, he said.
The retail price of the Fuji FinePix F20 is $299. The camera will be available this August.
