Fuji Announces FinePix Z5fd for U.S. Markets

December 7, 2006 – Initially introduced for the Japanese market, Fujifilm announced today the Fuji FinePix Z5fd will soon be available in the United States as well. The 6.3-megapixel camera comes with face detection technology and adds a new Fuji Blog Mode. The Z5fd will sell for $229 when it becomes available in March 2007.

“Fujifilm expects the new Blog Mode to be a well-used feature on the FinePix ZX5fd,” stated a Fujifilm press release today. First introduced on this model, the Blog Mode allows users to copy a picture in a reduced size, while maintaining an original file. The new feature is geared for easy posting to the web or for instant messaging. It is similar to Casio’s eBay mode or the email options which are available on many point-and-shoots.

The style conscious Z5fd comes in three colors: wine red, chocolate brown and lustrous brushed silver. The Z5fd has a non-extending 3x optical zoom lens and a sliding cover with a Fuji logo that can light up, according to the release.

Other notable features on the Fuji Z5fd include a top ISO speed of 1600, i-flash technology, dual shot mode, and 14 scene modes.
