April 13, 2006 – Software solution company Extensis announced two free updates yesterday to its Portfolio 8 program that manages digital files for photographers. The updates add support for 22 new cameras’ RAW file formats and can now sync with Microsoft Office to find, catalog, and view files.
“These free updates demonstrate Extensis’ commitment to supporting the file formats that matter most to our customers,” said Dan Harlacher, Extensis Portfolio product manager, in yesterday’s press release. “We added MS Office support and updates the Portfolio Raw Filter so that our customers can more effectively utilize Portfolio in their daily workflow from cataloging to finding to viewing the files and images that are most critical in their day-to-day business.”
Extensis collaborated with Bibble Labs to create the Portfolio Raw Filter. Bibble Labs is in the business of processing images from several manufacturers’ RAW files. “Raw support is more important than ever, and we are proud to continue our relationship with Extensis to develop and use our industry-leading Raw processing engine,” said Eric Hyman, president of Bibble Labs, in the release.
Portfolio 8’s Raw Filter adds support for the following digital cameras:

These digital cameras join the current list of supported models to bring the total to more than 80. The Extensis Portfolio 8 upgrade will also enhance compatibility with Microsoft Office. Users will be able to organize and view their files from Word or Excel programs.
The upgrades are free to existing users, but the entire Extensis Portfolio 8 program retails for $199. Conair Corporation and MTV Networks are just a few of the companies that use the data asset management software from Extensis.
