Dpreview Reviews Sony DA 16-105mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens
Andy Westlake from Dpreview reviews the Sony DA 16-105mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens which was announced in September 2007. The Sony DT 16-105mm F3.5-5.6 has an incredible zoom that is useful in a majority of shooting conditions. The lens was found to be extremely sharp at wide angle and also exhibited an impressive resistance to flare.However like most lenses the Sony DA 16-105mm 1:3.5-5.6 had its shortcomings. One came across Chromatic aberration at both wide-angle and telephoto ends and in telephoto mode the images were found to be soft.
In the end Westlake concludes:
"In summary, this is a very good lens for Alpha users. The versatility of the focal length range goes a long way towards making up for the inevitable optical compromises, and as such the lens easily earns our recommendation."
