Digital Scanning Service ScanCafé Launches

July 16, 2007 – Those looking to organize and save their family photos without unnecessary effort are in luck: ScanCafé, a new photo scanning service, has recently launched. The site aims to relieve the burden of manually sorting photos and digitizing images.

ScanCafé allows customers to send a large batch of print photos or negatives to be digitizing through the mail. After a customer reviews the uploads, the user selects which photos will be put on CD and DVD for storage.  The user is not required to pay for non-selected photos as long as more than 50 percent of images are not discarded.

The site includes resolution, color correction, cropping, and dust removal in its scanning fees, and also organizes scans into albums and folders per the customer’s request. ScanCafé uses only UPS and FedEx so customers can track their packages.

Negatives in 35mm format scans are priced at $0.19 per scan, while 35mm slides are priced at $0.24 per scan.  Print photo scans are priced at $.027 per scan. Photos are loaded onto a CD or DVD for the user and returned with the original photos. Scanned slides and negatives are suitable for enlargement up to 20 x 30 inches, and scans of prints can be enlarged to 2 times their original size.  More information is available at ScanCafé.com.
