DXG Introduces 5MP Camera with Video and Games


DXG cameraApril 18, 2007 – Digital camera manufacturer DXG, specializing in the youth market, this week announced the DXG-589V, its first multi-function 5-megapixel digital camera with gaming capabilities. Equipped with still, video, music, and gaming functions, the DXG camera retails for $199.99.

The DXG-589V possesses a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor that can capture JPEGs and MPEG-4 video at VGA resolution (640x480 at 30fps). The camera also has a digital music player and a voice recorder.

In addition, the DXG-589V comes with 20 built-in games in 2D or 3D animation. The camera features a video game toggle dial and a flip-screen design, a nod to Gameboy's design.

“Tweens, teens, and young adult gamers will love having instant access to games and a camera/camcorder in one sleek package to bring anywhere they go,” stated an April 16 company press release. “In addition, the DXG-589V is also geared towards road warriors that want to bring their media with them in one convenient place while on the road.”

The 589V can record video directly from TVs, DVD players, and VCRs to be stored on SD media. The DXG-589V is available at retailers including Best Buy and Circuit City.
