Computer Mouse for Photoshop CS3 Announced

March 29, 2007 – With the launch of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended this week, 3Dconnexion, a subsidiary of Logitech, yesterday announced the SpaceNavigator, a computer mouse accessory that supports the program's new 3D imaging capabilities.

“The integration of 3D technology in digital imaging tools is accentuating the limits of the traditional keyboard and mouse for manipulating 3D objects, and driving the need for functional 3D navigation tools,” stated a company press release yesterday.

Equipped with pressure sensing technology, the SpaceNavigator mouse companion has six degrees of motion, according to the website. In addition to a traditional keyboard and mouse, consumers can also use the SpaceNavigator in the other hand to pan, zoom, and rotate objects. Users can also accelerate and decelerate motion with the device.

Already enabled with support for Google SketchUp, a 3D modeling software tool, the SpaceNavigator is targeted for those who work with digital and motion content including architects, product designers, and multimedia creative professionals working with 3D images. The SpaceNavigator also supports Photoshop CS3 and CS2 for 2D imaging.

The SpaceNavigator device retails at $59 for the personal edition or $99 for the standard edition (with two-year support).
3Dconnexion’s SpaceNavigator is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 operating systems as well as Windows 2000 and higher. It is available for purchase at http://www.3dconnexion.com/.
