Cellblock.com Launches World’s Largest Live Pix Bin

November 29, 2006 – Software developer Gloto Corp. announced today the launch of the "World" campaign with the photo-sharing website Cellblock.com, to gather pictures from around the globe for the "largest live pix bin in the world," according to the company website.  Users can submit photos via their camera phones or computers for instant viewing.

The Maryland-based company specializes in capitalizing on user generated content (UGC), that is, photos that typically stay on cell phones or trapped on desktops.  "We’ve built robust infrastructure that any site can use to encourage users to submit photos, and make them available for viewing and monetizing as close to instantly as is possible," said Gloto CEO and co-founder Warren Citrin in today’s Gloto press release.

Users can submit their pics from their Motorola, Samsung, LG, or Audiovox mobile phones or from their computers to world@cellblock.com.  Users who want to start their own separate online album can also submit their photos to a unique email address, which may be particularly useful for a family reunion or wedding in which multiple users can submit to one catalogue.  In response, Cellblock sends a text message or email with a URL link to the photos that have just been posted.

With 83 percent of all cell phones being camera phones, according to the Gloto press release, the increasing number of mobile phone pictures could be utilized in the World campaign.
