March 30, 2005 — Casio posted an update to the EX-P505’s firmware today. The version 1.0.1 firmware makes the digital camera compatible with SD cards larger than 1 GB, adds an Autumn Leaves scene to the Best Shot modes, and increases USB communication speed. The only drawback to the 1.0.1 firmware update is that the camera will lose its ability to display Russian messages.

The 5-megapixel Casio EX-P505 was announced at the end of January and was made available a month later. The digital camera boasts a 5x optical zoom lens and a 2-inch LCD screen that folds out of the camera body. With VGA video resolution and audio recording and playback, this Casio has one of the best movie modes on the digital camera scene. It boasts a Past Movie Mode that records five seconds prior to the time the shutter release button is pressed. The EX-P505 retails for $499.99.
