Las Vegas, Nevada , January 8, 2007 – Casio today launched the latest addition to their Exilim line, the Exilim Hi-Zoom EX-V7. It is touted as “the world’s slimmest digital camera with a 7x optical zoom lens,” according to a Casio press release today. The EX-V7 comes packed with blur reduction technology and a new image processor. The 7.2 megapixel Casio EX-V7 will retail for $399.99 when it becomes available in March.

Measuring only 20.8mm thick (at its slimmest part), the Casio EX-V7 provides both high zoom capabilities in a portable point-and-shoot body, according to the release.  Traditionally, high zoom lenses are equated with bulkier camera bodies.  “The EX-V7 solves this problem, giving users the best of both worlds,” said Casio Senior Vice President of Digital Imaging Bill Heuer in the release.  The new EX-V7 camera carries a nonextending 7x optical zoom lens with a sliding cover.  The zoom lens is capable of 10x optical zoom when set to 3-megapixel mode.

Enabled with a new Exilim Engine 2.0 processor, the EX-V7 has Auto Tracking AF for moving subjects such as children and pets.  The Casio EX-V7 also adds four blur reduction technologies, called Casio's "motion analysis technology," according to the release, that includes a new shifting CCD to reduce camera shake.  The Exilim camera also has an auto setting mode for ISO and shutter speed.   In addition, the V7 comes with Casio’s anti-shake DSP which compensates for hand shake and an electronic camera shake reduction that can be enabled in movie mode.

With enhanced video capabilities, the Casio EX-V7 adds H.264 video encoding, which records 1.5 times longer than traditional MPEG-4 format, according to the release. It also has options for AVC, MOV, and JPEG AVI format.  Along with camera shake reduction, users can enable zoom in movie mode and in 16:9 format.

The EX-V7 has a 2.5-inch LCD screen with 230,000 pixel resolution and a sensitivity of ISO 1600 when set to High Sensitivity mode.  The Casio EX-V7 is compatible with Li-ion batteries at approximately 240 shots per charge.  The camera takes SD, SDHC, and MMC memory cards.
