October 16, 2006 – Last week, Casio Europe launched a new X-is-Everywhere campaign to coincide with the recent launch of the Casio Exilim Card EX-S770 point-and-shoot. Entrants who submit pictures of the X symbol can enter to win prizes including the Casio EX-S770.

Launched on Oct. 10th, the X-is-Everywhere website has already received submissions spanning 16 European countries, according to the site. While the 7.2 megapixel camera is indeed real, the rest of the campaign is a bit of a stretch.

The Casio campaign, sponsored by Exilim and Toshiba, is based on the idea that the X symbol is well, everywhere, including daily language - such as the Generation X term - and the flight patterns of birds. The X is also found in the Exilim Card EX-S770.

Equating the S770 to an archeological breakthrough, conspiracy theorists and Casio users can follow the Exilim camera found in relics including a Pompeii mosaic and the grave of a Pharaoh king in Egypt.

To help explain the phenomena for the X, a Clue-like investigation will be headed by the fictional Team X including heiress Juliet Bell, science Prof. Ignatz M. Foreman, and archaeologist Dr. Carl Recker.

For “true X-activists,” as the website calls them, Casio fans who submit X-themed photos (not the dirty kind) or sign an online petition to seek the truth can enter to win a grand prize one-week trip to Egypt and a cruise on the Nile for two, a Toshiba Notebook Portege R200, a Microsoft Xbox 360, and of course, the Casio Exilim Card EX-S770. Other prizes include DVDs of the Da Vinci Code, Lost, and the X-Files.

The online event lasts from October 12, 2006 to January 9, 2007 in Europe. The Exilim X-is-Everywhere website is http://www.x-is-everywhere.com
