Casio Launches EX-Z1050

January 29, 2007 – Casio announced today the successor to their highest resolution point-and-shoot, introducing the Exilim EX-Z1050. The 10.1-megapixel EX-Z1050 carries a new LCD and a burst rate of 7fps for the retail price of $299.99 when it becomes available in March.

The redesigned EX-Z1050 has a lightweight aluminum body. Like its predecessor that was introduced last year, the EX-Z1050 carries the same high 10.1-megapixel count and 3x optical zoom. The new Z1050, however, includes a new LCD screen. While the older model had a slightly larger and higher resolution 2.8-inch LCD with 230,000 pixels, the newly redesigned 2.6-inch, 114,960 pixel LCD is capable of bright and wide viewing at a 14:9 ratio.

The Casio EX-Z1050 also delivers a “best-in-class high speed, continuous shooting,” according to a company press release today. The Z1050 shoots at 7fps but at 2-megapixel quality, this is over a 3fps burst rate on the Z1000.

The camera comes with Casio Exilim Engine 2.0 image processor and anti-blurring technology including Auto Tacking AF, Anti-Shake DSP which boosts shutter speed and ISO sensitivity. The camera has a 1600 ISO at High Sensitivity mode, this is a drop from the high sensitivity mode of 3200 ISO on the previous model.

The new EX-Z1050 “boasts a superior design that provides an unforgettable look and feel,” according to Casio Vice President Bill Heuer of Digital Imaging Division in the release.

The Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 is compatible with Li-ion batteries and accepts SD, SDHC, and MMC media. The camera is available in pink, blue, black, and silver.
