October 24, 2005 - Casio announced the Casio Exilim Card EX-S600 today, the third model in their ultra slim card series, which contains models that are just 0.6 inches thick on average. The most notable features are an anti-blur function offered during MPEG-4 video recording and a “Revival” mode that permits users to take digital images of printed photographs without losing color fidelity or capturing glare from gloss.
The EX-S600 offers 6 megapixels from a 1/2.5” CCD and a 2.2” LCD display, though with a relatively poor screen resolution of just 85,000 pixels. As expected, the EX-S600 has no viewfinder, and has features standard on high-end compacts such as two self-timer options, three metering options, an ISO range of 50-400. There is a 9 point AF system and the aperture opens to f/2.7 rather than f/2.8, though with no long shutter speed options in a range of 1/8-1/2000 of a second, this is hardly a low light camera. In addition to six presets it offers manual white balance. Its movie mode records audio and offers options of 640 x 480 in two qualities at 30 fps and 320 x 240 at 15 fps, along with a past movie mode and the option to take a still shot during video recording. The camera weighs just 4 oz. at 3.5 x 0.6 x 2.3 in., and runs on a lithium-ion cell. It is SD/MMC compatible.
The EX-S600 is only available in Asia, and will be on shelves by November 18th.
