August 8, 2006 – Today Casio, Inc. announced the premium model of their entry-level point-and-shoots, the Exilim Card EX-S770. The 7.2-megapixel, wide screen S770 is priced at $379.99 and will be available in September.
Unlike the 6-megapixel EX-S600 with sports a 2.2-inch LCD, the new S770 has a higher megapixel count and a larger, 2.8-inch monitor. The LCD is “bright enough to see outdoors on a sunny day,” according to today’s press release. The Super Bright TFT-LCD is composed of 230,000 pixels. The stainless steel camera has a 3x optical zoom lens and anti-shake capabilities.
The Casio EX-S770 features a new wide-aspect movie function for 16:9 aspect ratio video recording. The MPEG-4 format, VGA sized movies are compatible with wide-screen TVs, according to the release.
The S770 also incorporates a new function for storing computer data onto the camera. With Data Transport software, the camera can hold documents, emails, or maps for easy access. The S770 also includes Photo Transport for storing photos from a desktop to the camera.
“The EX-S770’s new functions enhance photo taking and allow consumers to upload data from their computer right to the camera,” said Casio Senior VP of Sales Bill Heuer of Digital Imaging in the release.
The EX-S770 comes with 34 best shot modes, including its signature eBay best shot mode. Like other U.S. Exilim cameras, the eBay mode automatically resizes high resolution images to 800KB, eBay’s specification for posting.
The Casio EX-S770 will be available in silver, blazing red, and graphite blue.
