Casio Improves Color Accuracy on EX-Z1000 with Firmware Upgrade

May 24, 2006 – Casio today released a firmware update for the Exilim EX-Z1000, a 10-megapixel digital camera that was only announced last month. The new models have trouble reproducing accurate colors when shooting in overcast weather and other poor lighting conditions. The firmware update fixes this problem, but at the expense of losing Russian display messages.

So while the color balance is fixed for the rest of the world, Russian speaking users will need to bear with the original firmware and incorrect colors. Casio’s statement read, "Note also that there are no plans to offer a Russian language version of firmware update version 1.01."

The Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 has the highest resolution and the largest LCD screen of any Casio camera on the market. The screen measures 2.8 inches and has 230,000 pixels. The camera has a 3x optical zoom lens and comes in a slim 0.88-inch thick body. It has 37 Best Shot modes, including an anti-shake mode and a high-sensitivity mode – which might just look even better after this firmware update.

The version 1.01 firmware can be found at: http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/ex_z1000_firmup/
