June 25, 2007 – Canon is highlighting products at the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) ideal for modernizing the learning process and aiding educators. The conference is being held in Atlanta from June 24-27.
"Integrating imaging capturing devices and multi-media technologies is quickly becoming the method of choice to reach the minds of today's Generation-Y student," said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A., in a press release. "Canon offers products and solutions for the 21st century classroom, which are shown here at NECC 2007."
Among the products are three digital cameras. The 8-megapixel PowerShot S5 IS has an SLR-like design and features 12x optical zoom, image stabilization, face detection, and a hot shoe; the 8-megapixel PowerShot SD850 Digital ELPH is a compact point-and-shoot with image stabilization; and the 10-megapixel EOS 1D Mark III is Canon's top-of-the-line professional DSLR.
Canon is also presenting printers, camcorders, and projectors and video visualizers. Last fall, the company teamed up with Arizona State University to create a digital university, and in January demonstrated products for educators at the Florida Education and Technology Corporation Conference.
