November 20, 2006 – Research firm IDC reported last week that Canon, Inc. shipped the most digital cameras in the market this past quarter, according to a Reuters news article published on Nov. 16.
Canon shipped 6.8 million digital cameras in July, August, and September, making up the majority of 19 percent of all units shipped in the nation. Sony, Corp. made up a close 15 percent of the market.
Eastman Kodak Co. took third place with 13 percent of all digital cameras shippped were Kodak cameras. Nikon made up 11 percent of all shipped, and fifth place belonged to Samsung Electronics, according to Reuters.
