July 8, 2008 – Canon today announced that the company’s new entry-level digital SLR, the Rebel XS, will go on sale in August for $699.99, including the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens. Information about the 10.1-megapixel camera was released in June (see our preview coverage here), but the U.S. price wasn’t available at that time. Canon also announced an estimated price of $329.99 for the Canon Speedlite 430EX II, a modest performance upgrade to the 430EX, due later this year.
