Canon Introduces "Cash In With Canon" Rebate Program

April 4, 2006 – Spring has sprung and with it come a host of rebates from manufacturers to jumpstart sales in the new fiscal year; Yesterday Canon announced its "Cash In With Canon" program is offering rebates on its DSLR system cameras, lenses, and accessories. The Canon EOS 5D yields a $300 return and the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT will get $100 back. The rebates will be effective on purchases made from April 1-July 15, 2006 from authorized dealers.

"The Cash In With Canon rebate program gives users a cost effective way to build their own SLR system, and explore the creative control and speed that SLR photography offers," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon, in yesterday’s press release. "We feel that this type of rebate program gives users the chance to experience professional level equipment that can yield professional level results."

With the purchase of a 12.8-megapixel Canon EOS 5D, users will receive a $300 rebate. Sure, the 5D normally retails for $3,299, but the extra rebate may be enough to break down the penny-pinching photographer who has been lusting after the DSLR since its August 2005 debut. The Canon EOS Rebel XT is now more than a year old, but was one of the best-selling DSLRs last year. It retailed for $999 when it first hit the market and can be found much less for now. Canon is offering a $100 rebate for the already affordable 8.2-megapixel entry-level EOS model.

In addition to these two DSLRs, Canon is offering mail-in rebates for many of its EF lenses and EX-series flashes. The following products are eligible for the cash.
