August 1, 2007 – The Canon Campus Technology Conference is underway in Washington, D.C. and will run through Thursday. At the conference, Canon will highlight photographic equipment for students and educators that will help prepare tomorrow's workforce.
“The workplace is in constant demand for workers who can fully embrace and utilize today’s technologies for maximum productivity,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager for Canon’s Consumer Imaging Group, in a press release. “Canon continues to support the education community with various programs, such as the Canon Envirothon and the National Parks Science Scholars Program, which educate as well as promote conservation.”
At the conference, Canon is showcasing products that it thinks may be useful to both students and educators. Among these products are three digital cameras: the EOS 1D Mark III, ideal for photojournalists; the PowerShot S5 IS, suited for most multimedia needs; and the PowerShot SD850 Digital ELPH, with features useful for off-site lab research.
Also highlighted are two printers: the PIXMA Pro9000 Photo Printer, which provides high-quality printing for digital imaging classrooms or publications, and the imageCLASS MF4690 Laser Multifunction Printer, ideal for multiple networked users in a classroom setting. Canon is also promoting the Creative Park website, which helps create 3-D crafts, greeting cards, and education materials. Projectors and video cameras will also be featured.
Those attending the conference will hear a keynote speech by Director of Internet 2 Middleware and Security Ken Klingenstein, participate in panel discussions led by educators, take a field trip to the University of Maryland-College Park to learn more about implementing technology in the classroom, and attend workshops on technology and leadership.
