Canon Cuts Rebel XT Price to $599.99

November 16, 2006 – On the heels of Nikon’s release of its new entry-level DSLR, the 6.1-megapixel D40, Canon responded with a price reduction on last year’s 8-megapixel Digital Rebel XT. The Canon Digital Rebel XT will now retail for $599.99 for the body alone or $699.99 for the kit, which includes an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

At a drastic $300 less than the original price, the 8-megapixel Canon Rebel XT possesses a 1.8-inch LCD, Digic II processor, and 7-point auto focus system.

Even with the release of the new Canon Digital Rebel XTi introduced in August, its predecessor has remained popular.  In September, eBay’s top selling DSLR was the Canon XT, according to Photo Marketing Research.
