Canon Builds “Digital University” at Arizona State

October 6, 2006 – Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced yesterday that the manufacturer is partnering with Arizona State University to create a "sustainable digital university," according to Canon’s press release yesterday.

As part of the initial stages of a long-term partnership, according to the release, Arizona State campus copy centers will use Canon imageRUNNER copier equipment. Canon will also open a "digital showroom" on the Tempe, AZ campus and sponsor related student activities.

"This partnership is a unique opportunity to create a sustainable digital environment that effectively facilitates the creation and use of knowledge and capitalize on the power of information technology," said ASU vice president and chief technology officer Adrian Sannier in the release.

The university with over 61,000 attendees, according to the ASU website, will witness the transformation of "Arizona State as a test laboratory for new Canon digital technologies," stated the release.
