We went hands-on with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, the successor to the king of DSLR video.

Video Review

Introduction

Canon's 5D Mark III follows up on the smash success of the Canon 5D Mark II, a full-frame professional camera designed to suit the needs of photographers and videographers across the industry. The 5D Mark II, while quite popular, was getting a little long in the tooth as Canon and Nikon both began announcing new professional full-frame DSLRs over the last six months. While the Nikon D4, Canon 1D X, and Nikon D800 all brought with them quite a bit in new features, the 5D Mark III update essentially brings the 5D series up to speed, adding in many of the features that existing 5D mark II users have been asking for, without radically changing a successful formula. The 5D Mark III is expected to ship for $3499 body-only, or with the 24-105mm f/4L lens (same as the 5D Mark II) for $4299.
