Canon 4K Prototype Camera/ Camcorder First Impressions
Conclusion
It is hard to draw too many conclusions from this prototype: Canon built it to show that they have the sensor and other components to do it, and they went to some lengths to state that this camera will not directly evolve into a commercial product; they said that any final product will look very different.
But whatever the final device looks like, the idea of a hand-held hybrid camera/camcorder that can capture 4K video and 8-megapixel stills is an entrancing one. Especially if the engineers at Canon can deliver a product that is smaller and cheaper than other 4K cameras like the pro level RED camcorder.
