Breeze Releases Downloader Pro 2.0 with Geo-tagging
March 29, 2007 – Breeze Systems yesterday released an upgrade to its Downloader Pro software. The software automatically downloads, organizes, and renames images, and features automatic geo-tagging for photos with GPS data. The Windows-enabled Downloader Pro 2.0 is currently available online for $29.95.
Downloader Pro 2.0 "gives you a fast and simple way to transfer and store digital photos from your camera to PC," states the company website.
Imported images will include capture time, camera model data, ISO settings, and IPTC/XMP data. Downloader Pro 2.0 supports JPEG, TIFF, and RAW files from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji, Minolta, Pentax, Sony, Kodak, Sigma, Panasonic, Hasselblad, and Leica cameras, according to the website.
One of the key features of the update is Downloader Pro’s automatic geo-tagging. When used with a GPS device such as Sony’s GPS-CS1, Downloader Pro imports the coordinates, and that may be particularly helpful for architects, real estate agents, environmental scientists, or travelers who want to track the latitude and longitude positions of where the photos were taken.
Other new features include a file sequence numbering system, enhanced backup, and an improved thumbnail display that includes the photo's name, time stamp, and status.
Breeze Systems offers other software to simplify digital photography workflow, such as BreezeBrowser Pro for managing workflow and DSLR Remote Pro for remote shooting with Canon DSLRs and select PowerShot point-and-shoots.
